We believe in the medicinal value of Cannabis and provide recommendations to use medical marijuana to qualifying patients under California Proposition 215 and SB420.

A recommendation is like a prescription. With a recommendation from Rainbow Cannabis you are able to legally possess marijuana for medical reasons within the State of California. To qualify for a recommendation schedule an appointment and provide the following mandatory documents:

  • A document signed by a California licensed health provider stating the your qualifying diagnosis. This document needs to be less than 12 months old, unless you have a permanent condition (HIV or MS). A simple note from your doctor stating your medical condition is sufficient. This note does not need to mention cannabis - that's our job. Prior medicinal marijuana recommendations do not qualify. A recommendation from Rainbow Cannabis WILL NOT be approved without appropriate verification your diagnosis. We rely on your documentation to maintain our low fees.

  • Valid California identification, either a California Driver’s License or DMV issued I.D. card. Other types of identification, such as passports, are not accepted. The I.D. must verify that you live in California. We can see any patient, living anywhere in California.

  • Patients under 18 MUST be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. The parent or guardian must also have a valid California I.D.
  • Caregivers need to bring valid California identification. A caregiver is a person designated by the patient who "consistently assumes responsibility for the housing, health, or safety of that person", as defined in Prop 215. Approval of caregiver certificates is at the discretion of our Medical Doctor.

Once approved, with the appropriate identification and medical documentation, a patient will receive a recommendation to use medical marijuana. This recommendation is valid through out the State of California and can be used to obtain an optional ID Card from the State or other agency. We are not a dispensary of marijuana and comply with the California Medical Board Guidelines for Medical Marijuana Physicians.

Your records will remain private and confidential. Rainbow Cannabis will never share ANY of your information with another agency unless you give explicit and written consent under HIPAA standards.

If you have not seen a health care provider for over 12 months or have no documentation of your diagnosis, then please make an appointment with your primary provider and obtain a signed note with your qualifying diagnosis prior to making your appointment with Rainbow Cannabis. If you lack medical insurance, access to medical care is available through Community Clinics for the Underserved and Uninsured.
